Automated Black Soldier Fly Farm using IoT and Computer Vision

Developed an innovative solution that automates the regulation and control of environmental conditions for Black Soldier Fly farming. The Black Soldier Fly at the larvae stage can break down organic waste, converting it into nutrient-rich fertilizer and high protein feed for animals. The system that was developed utilized IoT technology and Computer Vision techniques to monitor and adjust temperature, humidity, lighting intensity and moisture content in real time. The system collected data from sensors placed in the farm and sends it to a cloud-based database. Through a web dashboard and a mobile application, users could remotely monitor the conditions, control actuators and receive notifications. It also incorporated computer vision through a live video feed to monitor larval health based on its activity and motion. Notifications were also sent to a mobile application to alert users on feeding needs and when the larvae were ready for collection
